Once upon a time, Echuca was the largest inland river port in Victoria. It is this aspect of its past that has become theme of its re-development as a tourist attraction in the years since the restoration of the old port area began in 1973. Echuca is located 206km north of Melbourne via the Hume and Northern Highways, and is a largely irrigated pastoral and agricultural district. Echuca lies on the banks of the Murray River which forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales.
Best Western Pevensey Motor Lodge is located 600 metres from the city centre, not too far at all. The river port is within easy walking distance, as are most attractions around town. There are cabs available, your hosts Alysha and Tim Griffiths would be happy to organise one for you if it is required.
The closest International and Domestic airport is situated in Melbourne, around 2.5 hours drive from Echuca.
